NANA (5 stars)

This movie isn't your generic chick flick friendship shojo type movie. it deserves all 5 stars in my opinion. the characters face the same relationship issues as any other young women but more interesting then that of the people you or i know in person. The storyline and flashbacks of NANA'S love life and where she is now shows her strength while vulnerabilities are still present. Her room mate NANA is able to learn greatly from her and they build a bond through the break ups, heart breaks, and come backs that are entirely different than what any viewer would expect. It ends happily but it seemed to me that there was more to come. But considering that there are multiple volumes of manga that go to it, i can understand, plus a friend of mine, who i believe to be well informed, told me that they stopped there because the author was sick. i sure hope they make another movie because this one was plane awesome! :D

at first glance, i imagined that both girls would be feuding due the fact that they have totally different personalities, it was totally different though. the story isn't a hostile type movie, in fact they both get along right off the back when they meet each other on a train and realized that they have the same name and are the same age. It's really set "Hachi" (nickname for the pretty in peak, handful of a young women Nana) learns from the less than presentable rocker Nana, who aspires to be a rock star. Her life being less than perfect met Ren, who she lived with for over a year who leaves her to go to Tokyo. In most cases, rather, what i imagined it to be was, that they hated each other . Or maybe she hated him for not staying with her. from the flash backs, it seemed that they were so close and he just vanished and they never kept in touch anymore. that's what it seemed until the last flash back of the movie when Nana goes to Ren's concert with his new band. From then on, my opinion completely changed. turns out they still loved each other and she was really in pain of heart break everyday, the same way he was. She was being strong though, trying to break it off for her own career along with the mistake of thinking he never thought of her anymore. I cried my delirious cry, as my brother tells me, many a time. sniff i think there are some tears still left over. It is pretty heart wrenching though, when it gets to the end of it though. I love it though, and i think everyone should get to watch it.

Paprika

Paprika is the sort of movie that changes concepts, ideas, and influences movies, books, and revolutions. Yea, you might thing that whole last statement is a hyperbole BUT you haven't seen this movie. Both engaging and enchanting , this movie, enter the subconscience into the dream world and sustains the "Alice in Wonderland" theme of stream of conscience. Of course, no matter how good the themes of love, attachement, past, future, desires, and alter egos are, it is a bit confusing to follow. It truly is a classic anime movie though, from it's oddities to its animation. The turn of events are wild and there's no way a first time viewer would be able to GUESS what's coming next.

The film's theme, like i previously stated is based of dreams. The main character is one of the best scientist at lab where her and and her partners, are developing technology to examine and share dreams. Not just for the fun of dream surfing though. The makers want to use it to solve mysteries and the physiological problems of the misfortunate. It all starts out in an officers dream, he's been trying to figure out what's been bothering him so much and Paprika was there to help. It later turns out that someone has gone missing due to the dream devices doing. In fact, more and more people who had been working on the mechanism were acting as if being touched with lunacy and deliberately endangering themselves. Paprika and her crew have to be on there way to figure out what's going on and stop it. But they were dealing with in cohesive imagination, objects lacking all sense, parades on march battling someone on the inside wanting to do them in with his perverted tactics. The climax and conclusion will not allow you to walk away from the movie, maybe because it's so darn weird, maybe because it's so darn good. Whatever the reason, you better finish watching this movie, then get back to my page and tell me how you liked it. :D

The Green Hornet Review~5 Stars

The Green Lantern, thus far is the best movie of 2011 so far. I just saw it last week and it was worth every penny. After seeing this movie i felt full and satisfied. On my initial sighting of the trailer, back in November, the earliest, i thought it was a low budget movie and not worth seeing. Usually a low budget movie, as i see it, has trailers only a couple months before it actually comes out. for this movie, there was no hype, no merchandising, nothing! I have to say though, that hot Asian man, Kato, that can do just about everything, from making a mean cup of gourmet coffee to kicking the bad guys butt, was a definite reason for me to see the movie. The ambiance of the theater was lacking in fact, with a bountiful amount of seating. Which was odd because i want to see the movie on opening night. the theater was full of families and old people which isn't what you usually get when it comes to a superhero movie with a legend. I mean you have to remember, The Green Hornet, is quite old, starting out as a radio show. Hmmm, maybe all the people that remember it are already dead. But anyway, there should've been a WAY better turn out then what there was. This movie was truly a trip of hilarity, interest, and what every good story needs, an awesome climax, conflict, turn of events, and conclusion.

Britt, the main character, a rich kid of a douche bag of a father who owns a family owned Newspaper, some how loses his father to a bee sting, of which he is allergic to. Britt is not Business minded and rather party all night and bring girls to the mansion and show them his fathers pimped out auto mobiles, and sleep till his heart desires. But do to the death of his fathers, which hardly moves him, he rather let the newspaper go to his father's best advisor rather than taking up the family business. The next morning after his father's funeral, after false friends try their hand at comforting him, Britt wakes up to a bad cup of coffee that was served to him by a novice maid. Angered to degree of vehemence, he rushes into the foyer demanded the person who makes his coffee, which is usually gourmet and garnished with a foamy leaf. He finds the person whom he fired, who turns out to be Kato, a highly intelligent Asian man with masterful martial arts skills. The devise a "great" plan to get back at Britt's dead father and turn out saving a couple from some robbers on the same street they are on. This scene showcases Kato's amazing skill to slow down time in his mind and imagine where every moving person is so he can thoroughly kick butt. It seems totally unreal but after all it was made for 3D, and if i had seen it in 3D it would have been even more epic. None the less, it was quite amazing. throughout the story it isn't hard to realize that Kato's the one that really stands out from Britt's controlling selfish attitude. Britt never plays much of a part in their "heroing" but in the movie throughout, he absolutely is the main character. Britt keeps the laughter going and both flawlessly and smoothly intertwines the laid back humor in a sequence where i almost to much to bare. TOTALLY worth the the WATCH!!!!!!

P.S.I Love You review 5 Stars

I've waited a couple years to watch this movie. in fact, i believe it came out in 2007, and it's 2011 lol. I just couldn't find anyone who'd wanna watch it with me. No one likes chick flicks anymore. It had been so long that once the movie arrived in the mail, i didn't feel to hyped to watch it. i thought it might be a "plain Jane" sort of romantic flick. you know, one of those predictable stories with less than perfect acting and familiar themes. this was far from it.

The story is of a married couple who love each other dearly but with such attitude that is completely different from what we know of as "star crossed lovers". which is in fact exactly what they are. In the movie, Gerard Butler plays as a playful sing songy Irish man who fell for Holly, a visiting collage student from the states who has big dreams. The end up together opposed to their parents who believed they were too young to marry, and in fact "loved each other too much". The beginning of the movie is an argument between the married couple, which, I'm not going to lie, is a bit perplexing, sense it's In Medias Ref. There's a turn of events that i won't spoil. I have to tell you though, Gerard Butler is HARDLY in the movie. The title should have told you already though, that letters are sent to Holly, the main character, ending in P.S. I love you. So you know by now that her husband isn't with her. In the end, Holly becomes emancipated in a way, from what, you'll have to find out for yourself. she begins her new business and begins to write her OWN letter to her husband, always in P.S. I love you.

The characters of the movie are quite charming, especially the memories that there are of Jerry. From his heavy Irish accent to his silly behavior around friends and his loving down to earth frame of mind when it comes to being with his wife. Holly herself is quite frivolous and the movie is centered on how she "finds herself" now that she no longer is able to rely on her husband when tumultuous circumstances arise. She's not as extroverted as her dare devil husband and spends much of her time worrying. Later though, she learns to be self sufficient at 30. Her friends, Denise, Sharon, and John, whom are very supportive given the circumstances, have their own idiosyncrasies about themselves. Denise is the crazy woman, using all her power not to die a spinster while Sharon and John are a married couple who have known the couple for many years. Between the pregnancy and new marriage Holly has to adjust to the usurp in attention and adjust but comes back with a new view on how she ought to tackle her life.
