This movie isn't your generic chick flick friendship shojo type movie. it deserves all 5 stars in my opinion. the characters face the same relationship issues as any other young women but more interesting then that of the people you or i know in person. The storyline and flashbacks of NANA'S love life and where she is now shows her strength while vulnerabilities are still present. Her room mate NANA is able to learn greatly from her and they build a bond through the break ups, heart breaks, and come backs that are entirely different than what any viewer would expect. It ends happily but it seemed to me that there was more to come. But considering that there are multiple volumes of manga that go to it, i can understand, plus a friend of mine, who i believe to be well informed, told me that they stopped there because the author was sick. i sure hope they make another movie because this one was plane awesome! :D
NANA (5 stars)

at first glance, i imagined that both girls would be feuding due the fact that they have totally different personalities, it was totally different though. the story isn't a hostile type movie, in fact they both get along right off the back when they meet each other on a train and realized that they have the same name and are the same age. It's really set "Hachi" (nickname for the pretty in peak, handful of a young women Nana) learns from the less than presentable rocker Nana, who aspires to be a rock star. Her life being less than perfect met Ren, who she lived with for over a year who leaves her to go to Tokyo. In most cases, rather, what i imagined it to be was, that they hated each other . Or maybe she hated him for not staying with her. from the flash backs, it seemed that they were so close and he just vanished and they never kept in touch anymore. that's what it seemed until the last flash back of the movie when Nana goes to Ren's concert with his new band. From then on, my opinion completely changed. turns out they still loved each other and she was really in pain of heart break everyday, the same way he was. She was being strong though, trying to break it off for her own career along with the mistake of thinking he never thought of her anymore. I cried my delirious cry, as my brother tells me, many a time. sniff i think there are some tears still left over. It is pretty heart wrenching though, when it gets to the end of it though. I love it though, and i think everyone should get to watch it.
